China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes & Flirty Tankini with Mrs. P's Nail Potions Can't Colour Enough

Good afternoon all!!

I have a quick post for you all today of a mani I did way back when.  I've got some catching up to do on blog posts of manis I've done LOL!

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with my I <3 NY collection, and specifically Can't Colour Enough.  If you are not familiar with this collection or lacquer, it was a collection I came up with inspired by my fave TV show, Sex And The City.  It is a five piece collection of glitter jellies, each one inspired by the five main characters: Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, and Mr. Big.  Can't Colour Enough was inspired by Samantha Jones and her colourful and out-there personality and fashion. It's a neon pink jelly with a little bit of extra fine holographic glitter for that shimmer and sparkle to represent the life in the fast lane aspect of Samantha.  It's then loaded with many different glitters of different shapes and sizes kind of like a party confetti to represent all the high profile PR events and parties that Samantha attended and organized/hosted. And for those unfamiliar with Samantha's famous quote from the first movie, the girls were all sitting having coffee/breakfast and Charlotte had her daughter Lily with her and didn't want the girls using the word "sex" so they used "colour" instead so they could still talk about sex without Lily really knowing or understanding.  Samantha said "I can't colour enough, I would colour all day every day If I had my way, I would use every crayon in my box".  Hence the name of the lacquer :)

So for this mani, I used two China Glaze neon lacquers from last year's summer neon collection - Hang-Ten Toes and Flirty Tankini.  I did two coats of Flirty Tankini on my ring and index fingers and did two coats of Hang-Ten Toes on my remaining three fingers.  I then did one thin coat of Can't Colour Enough over top everything and topped it all with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

All photos were taken indoors near a window for natural lighting and without flash.

If interested, you can purchase any of the lacquers from my I <3 NY collection from my etsy shop here.  Each lacquer is $8.00 CAD for full-sized bottles or you can purchase the entire set of 5 full-sized bottles for $32.00 CAD (basically buy 4, get he 5th for free) with code "NYSET32".  I also have a mini set of the entire collection available for $16.00 CAD.

All the information you need to know about the new products you will find below. Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.

If you have any questions about the new products feel free to contact me and I would be glad to answer them all!

Autumn is now upon us which means we're all probably (generally speaking) starting to settle into the warmer, darker and more neutral tones. I've come up with eight new nail lacquers that are nothing but highly pigmented shades (four autumn/neutral shades and four jewel-toned shades). All of these shades are fully opaque in only two coats, some even in only one coat depending on the thickness of your coats. Here's a quick overall look at all eight of the new shades (two coats of each with 1 coat of Spectraflair 35 Topcoat over top on the left and just 2 coats of each with Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat over top on the right). From top to bottom: Fawning For You, Fall Deeply, Bordeaux Crossing, Lean, Mean & Aubergine, Mauvember, I Pink You're Hot, I Guaranteal It, Blurred Limes.

Now for a closer look at each of the shades:

Fawning For You is a neutral beige with a slight creme finish and a slight gold shimmer. Because of the slightly metallic property of this lacquer you do need to be mindful of brush strokes. This makes a great nude base to any glitter or nail art and I especially love it with a coat of Spectraflair 35 Topcoat over top. This would also be great as a base under a coat of The Naked Dress or Pirate's Booty.

Below is a swatch of Fawning For You on a nail wheel in two coats alone (left) and two coats with one coat of Spectraflair 35 Topcoat over top (right).

Fall Deeply is an auburn brown with lots of multicoloured shimmer (mainly green, blue and purple). I love how unique and versatile this lacquer is. It's deep, rich colour also tends to look more on the purple side depending on the lighting and its surroundings.

Bordeaux Crossing is a deep almost brick red shade with lots of shimmer. It is also unique in that depending on the lighting and its surroundings it takes on a more pinky or brownish shade of red.

Lean, Mean & Aubergine is a deep dark brownish purple shade. The purple shimmer to this shade is beautiful.

Mauvember is a lovely shimmering amethyst shade of purple, a much lighter purple than Lean, Mean & Aubergine.

I Pink You're Hot is a super hot pink shade. Again, lots of shimmer. I really want to try this under Glam-Rocker!!!

I Guaranteal It is a super saturated teal which is fabulous on its own, or with Spectraflair of course and would probably also be a fabulous combo with Pretty As A Peacock.

And last but certainly not least is Blurred Limes! This is a very interesting shade of green. It's not quite emerald and it almost has a golden glow/hue to it. The best green I can think of to describe it is shamrock green. This would also make a great pairing to Pretty As A Peacock or possibly even underneath a coat of Spring Fling.

Mrs. P's Nail Potions - Little Bruiser & Spectraflair 35 Topcoat

Good evening all.  Sorry for my absence.  It's been a whirlwind around here.  Children have become a handful.  The eldest is almost 4 and seems to have limitless energy and he's such a BOY!!  The youngest is 14 months now and a going concern.  He's not walking on his own yet but he'll use anything and everything as a walker or he'll just crawl everywhere.  He's always under foot and wanting to be right near me and we're down to one nap a day instead of 2 now and the teething is crazy!!!  It took him 11 months to get his very first tooth and in less than 2 months he's sprouted 5 more and counting.  Needless to say, my work time has been cut drastically (as has my me time) which has lead to my blog posts suffering.  But I'd rather neglect my blog than my business or my customers.  And of course I'd neglect anything over neglecting my children.  They may be a handful but they are delightful and fun boys and I love them to bits and wouldn't have life any other way!

Now back to business...I did this mani a bit ago but because I'm so behind on blog posts I have some catching up to do and this is the start of it.

Tonight I bring you a thermal mani that I added a bit of pizazz to.  I wanted to experiment a little bit with one of my mood potions and decided to try Little Bruiser with a coat of Spectraflair 35 Topcoat over top.  I had never done SF 35 over any thermal polishes before and wondered how it would affect the colour changing abilities.  Well to my very pleasant surprise it only made it BETTER!

In case you are not familiar with my lacquers, Little Bruiser is a thermal polish (I call mine "mood potions") that goes from a deep, vampy, shimmery reddish purple when cold to a bright shimmery orangey red when hot.  It is a sheer polish so can be built up in about 3 oats to full opacity or can be used a a layering polish for some neat colour changing effects.  I did 3 coats of Little Bruiser and did one coat of my Spectraflair 35 Topcoat over top.  My SF 35 Topcoat is made with grade 35 spectraflair pigment.  Spectraflair pigments are light diffractive colourants that generate the appearance of multiple, bright rainbow producing prisms.  This topcoat can be used on its own in several coats to create a holographic silver colour or can be painted in a thin coat over any other colour of nail polish to turn any nail polish into a holographic look.  My SF 35 Topcoat is easily my most popular and best seller!!  Everything was then topped off with a generous coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat.

I was super stunned with the results and these photos were before I tested out the colour changing effects.

First up I dipped my fingers in ice cold water to get Little Bruiser to go as dark as possible.  When I did so, the effect still worked perfectly and with the SF 35 Topcoat it made the darker colour of Little Bruiser seem even darker.  And the beauty of the darker colour was that it really allowed the rainbow effect of the SF 35 Topcoat to dazzle.

Next up I dipped my fingertips in the hottest water I could stand and although the colour change was muted ever so slightly by the prismatic effects of the SF 35 Topcoat, you could still see quite a difference in the base colour.  The rainbow effect wasn't quite as dazzling over the lighter red as it was over the deeper vampy colour but it was still gorgeous and I loved how the SF 35 Topcoat didn't completely hinder the ability to see the polish change colours still.

And just so you can really tell the difference, here are some photos that I snapped while the polish was transitioning between hot and cold.  You can see that the tips were returning to the darker cold colour as the base of the nails remained the lighter hot colour.

I was very pleased with this mani and it was super fun and pretty.  I still got the ever changing effects and fun of the mood potion but with some added flare and sparkle :)

All photos were taken in direct sunlight.
